In short
Ten U.S. business development representative (BDR) and sales development representative (SDR) postings checked October 1, 2026 listed annual on-target earnings (OTE) as high as $130,000. The table links each employer's role, location, and base pay where stated. This selected sample is not a national pay ranking, and earning OTE depends on meeting targets.

10 sampled U.S. BDR and SDR postings
We ordered the table by the upper end of posted OTE. Ties are not precise ranks, and an upper end is not a promised offer. Base appears only when the employer stated an annual figure. Equity and benefits are not included in cash OTE.

How we selected the examples
We checked public direct-employer job ads on October 1, 2026. Each selected U.S. role disclosed OTE or target compensation in U.S. dollars. We used one employer per row and did not convert currencies or calculate OTE from a base salary.
This list is not exhaustive. It favors transparent postings with higher disclosed upper ranges, so it does not represent the whole BDR and SDR market. A different employer may offer a better manager, training plan, product, territory, base, or quota for you.
The Weave example is the San Francisco company whose job board uses weave-os. It is distinct from Weave Communications.
What BDR and SDR work usually involves
A sales development representative, or SDR, and a business development representative, or BDR, often research possible buyers, write outreach, make calls, qualify interest, and set up a next conversation. Employers use the titles differently. Some split inbound and outbound work, while others treat the titles as similar.
These jobs are not interchangeable with account executive or sales engineer work. Read our SDR, BDR, and AE comparison for the role differences. If you are starting without software sales experience, use our no-experience guide to build honest proof.
How to compare base, OTE, and ramp
Base is the more predictable part of cash pay. The variable part depends on the written pay plan and results. Ask what share of the same team reached quota in the last full period. Also ask whether the employer changes quota or commission during ramp.
Location can change the range. Vercel's displayed range here is specific to San Francisco. Other roles require New York or San Francisco office time. Remote jobs can still limit eligible states. Confirm where you must live before treating a number as relevant.
For career changers, the useful question is not just which row has the largest number. Ask whether you can show the research, writing, calling, organization, and learning the job needs. Then compare the training, manager support, lead sources, and first months of quota.
Questions to ask in an interview
Ask how OTE is split between base and variable pay, how many people in the same role reached quota, and how long ramp lasts. Ask whether meetings, qualified opportunities, or another result drives pay. Learn what happens when a buyer cancels or a deal later changes.
Ask where leads come from, how territories are assigned, which tools the team uses, and how calls are coached. For office and hybrid jobs, confirm the days and location. For remote work, confirm approved states and travel.
Use the numbers as a starting point
A transparent posting gives you better questions, not a forecast. Compare it with other current jobs in your location and read the full requirements. Our tech sales salary guide explains OTE and sourced role medians, while the cross-role company hub shows how role level changes the comparison.
